The CUHK Jockey Club Myopia Prevention Programme was launched in October 2021 to provide free and comprehensive eye examination for children of ethnic minorities, with special educational needs and from low-income families.

The Y’s Men’s Club of North West (西北聯青社), which is a service club of YMCA, is responsible for coordinating volunteer teams from post-secondary colleges, secondary schools and government departments to serve as service ambassadors for supporting the programme. The Customs and Excise Department (C&ED) Volunteer Team is the service club’s partner for providing regular support to the programme.

8:45 – 9:00 am (AM Session) :
 Briefing for volunteers

9:00 am – 1:00 pm:
Conduct questionnaire
 Measure height, weight and blood pressure of the children
 Measure intra-ocular pressure
 Conduct simple visual acuity and refraction test
 Conduct colour vision test
 Escort the children to follow-up by nurse/ optometrist
 Input data of test results
